Topic Lecture in New Format
The Topic Lecture in its new format started with a talk of Prof. Sax on October 7th, 2024.
To make the monthly topic lecture more attractive to the members of the
graduate school,
the management team decided to alternatively organize it, in addition to the
old online lecture’s format (at 2 pm),
as a fireside talk (at 5:30 pm) with prominent automotive experts,
entrepreneurs, or political persons.
This new format started on October 7th, 2024, at the ITIV institute with a
talk of Prof. Eric Sax, the
current dean of the electrical engineering faculty at
KIT and former top manager in the automotive industry, on the trends and
challenges in automotive systems engineering.
In a relaxed atmosphere, Prof. Sax gave interesting insights from different
research projects and his personal
experience in real automotive engineering.
The members discussed with the speaker the advances in automated driving,
the importance of semiconductors,
and the challenges specific to the German automotive industry. One of the
main takeaways from this meeting
is that processes, methods, and tools, which require highly skilled
engineers, are lacking behind
the today’s widely available technology enablers.
