On April 7th, 2025, the graduate school "UpGrade Mobility" hosted an engaging fireside talk featuring Dr. Thomas Beck, managing director of Vector Informatik GmbH. The event provided a unique opportunity for members of the graduate school to interact with the distinguished guest in a relaxed and informal setting.
Moderated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eric Sax , the scientific speaker of the graduate school, the discussion began with Becks career and delved into his experiences managing Vector Informatik GmbH. The conversation ranged from product-specific questions to business administration requirements and challenges faced by a managing director.
The key takeaway from the fireside talk was that it is still possible to successfully manage a company in Germany. Even with a large workforce of around 4000 employees, a clear corporate culture can be maintained. Employee satisfaction is a valuable asset for moving the company forward. It is possible to be a managing director and still be home with your family by 6 p.m., demonstrating the compatibility of work and family life.
